Biografia

Lindi më 1944 në Tërnoc, ku mbaroi shkollimin fillor. Shkollimin e mesëm e kreu në Leskoc (1956-1960). Studimet universitare i mbaroi në Fakultetin e Shkencave Matematike-Natyrore (Dega e kimisë) në Beograd (1962-1966), ku u diplomua në qershor të vitit 1966. Studimet pasuniversitare i mbaroi në fakultetin dhe drejtimin e njëjtë në Beograd (1966-1968). Një kurs pasuniversitar e ka mbaruar Lièges (Belgjikë), në vitin 1970. U doktorua në vitin 1973 në Universitetin e Zagrebit. Studimet e pasdoktoraturës i vazhdoi në Angli (Universiteti i Bradfordit) në vitin 1974.
Pas përfundimit të studimeve të rregullta dhe të magjistraturës, në vitin 1968 zuri punë – asistent në Fakultetin Filozofik të atëhershëm, në Katedrën e Kimisë. Karrierën universitare (më 1971 ligjërues; më 1974 profesor inordinar; më 1984 profesor ordinar) pa ndërprerje e ka ushtruar në Prishtinë, ndërsa dhjetëra herë ka pasur udhëtime studimi në Çeki (Brno), Shqipëri, Angli (Bradford, Oksford, Londër), Skotlandë (Aberdin).
Ka marrë pjesë në tubime shkencore (simpoziume, konferenca dhe kongrese) në nivele kombëtare dhe ndërkombëtare në: SHBA, Angli, Gjermani, Itali, Turqi, Hungari, Slloveni, Kroaci, Serbi, Shqipëri, Kosovë. Është anëtar i Shoqatës Kimike Amerikane në vitin 1985, i Akademisë Evropiane për Çështje Mjedisi me seli në Tübingen të Gjermanisë dhe Londër në vitin 1987 dhe kombëtare, në Akademinë e Shkencave dhe të Arteve të Kosovës në vitin 1993, korrespondent, dhe i rregullt në vitin 1996. Është anëtar i Akademisë Europiane të Shkencave dhe të Arteve nga viti 2014.
Gjatë periudhës akademike-universitare ka ushtruar edhe këto detyra: shef i Degës së Kimisë 1971-1973; sekretar i përgjithshëm i ASHAKut, 1994-1999; kryetar i ASHAK-ut, 1999-2002 dhe 2018-2019.
Ka qenë deputet (2001-2011) kryetar i Parlamentit të Kosovës në periudhën 2000-2004 dhe 2004-2006.
