Biografia


Lindi më 7.5.1941 në Zhur të Prizrenit. Shkollën fillore e kreu në vendlindje, Shkollën e Mesme Buj­qësore në Prishtinë, ndërsa Fakul­tetin e Bujqësisë, drejtimin e mbroj­tjes së bimëve, në Universitetin e Beogradit. Studimet pasuniver­sitare, nga lënda e fito­patologjisë, i ka kryer po ashtu në Universitetin e Beogradit, më 1975. Gjatë vitit 1976/77, si bursist i fond­acionit IREX, ka kryer specializimin një­vjeçar në SHBA, Department of Plant Pathology, University of wisconsin, Madison, në lëmin e fitopatologjisë. Në këtë universitet vazhdoI studimet njëvjeçare gjatë vitit 1980. Disertacionin e doktoratës e ka mbrojtur më 1983 në Fakultetin e Agronomisë të Universitetit të Zagrebit. Gjatë vitit 1996/97 qëndron tre muaj në Angli, Imperial College & Science Musum Libraries, London, ku grumbullon literaturë plotësuese për tekste universitare dhe punime shkencore.
Pas përfundimit të studimeve të rregullta, zë punë në “Progres-Export” të Prizrenit, teknolog për mbrojtjen e bimëve. Në vitin 1977 zgjidhet ligjërues në Fakultetin e Bujqësisë për lëndën Fitopatologjia. Docent është zgjedhur në vitin 1984, profesor inordinar në vitin 1991, ndërsa profesor ordinar në vitin 1997. Ka qenë dekan i Fakultetit të Bujqësisë të Universitetit të Prishtinës.
Ka mbajtur ligjërata, ushtrime dhe është themelues i lëndës së Fitopatologjisë në këtë universitet. Preokupim kryesor i tij është puna shkencore – hulumtuese, sëmundjet e bimëve, të shkaktuara nga kërpudhat, bakteriet, viruset dhe fitoplazmat. Në revistat e njohura shkencore, që botohen në vend dhe në botën e jashtme (SHBA, Gjermani, Itali, Hungari, Slloveni, Kroaci, etj.), ka publikuar shumë punime shkencore dhe artikuj nga lëmi i ngushtë. Është mjaft i cituar në literaturën shkencore në botën e jashtme. Ka përshkruar disa patogjenë për herë të parë në botë (Alternaria alternata – në bizele) dhe në vend (Pleospora infectoria, Didymella bryoniae, Diplocarpon earliana, Uromyces striatus, Phoma medicaginis, Plasmodiophora brassicae, Phytophthora capsici, Erwinia amylovora).
Është anëtar i këtyre shoqatave profesionale: Plant Protection Society of former YU and Society of Phytopathology; Former member of Advisory Board of Yugoslav Journal of Production; Distribution and Application of Pesticides, Belgrade; Former Member of Editorial Board of Plant Protection, Zagreb. Anëtar i Bordit të Unionit të Fitopatologëve të Vendeve Mesdhetare, Itali. Anëtar i Bordit drejtues në projektin “Tempus Project UM_JEP-16079-2001”.
Në vitin 2000 është zgjedhur anëtar korrespondent i Akademisë së Shkencave dhe të Arteve të Kosovës, ndërsa në vitin 2008 anëtar i rregullt.
Ka qenë profesor mysafir në Universitetin bujqësor të Tiranës. Ligjëratë nga fusha e Fitopatologjisë ka mbajtur në Akademinë e Shken­cave të Göttingenit. Ka ligjëruar më 27 janar 2006.
Ka marrë mirënjohje nga Shoqatat e Mbrojtjes së bimëve për kontribut në fushën e mbrojtjes së bimëve, Opati 1986; mirënjohje nga Kryeministri i ish Jugosllavisë Ante Markovi?, në vitin 1990, për kontribut në mbrojtjen e popullatës në raste të katastrofave elementare; mirënjohje nga Universiteti i Prishtinës për merita dhe kontribut të jashtëzakonshëm në zhvillimin dhe avancimin e procesit mësimor-shkencor në Universitetin e Prishtinës, Prishtinë 28. mars 2007; Mirënjohje nga Fakulteti i Bujqësisë dhe Veterinarisë të Universitetit të Prishtinës për kontribut të në zhvillimin dhe avancimin e procesit mësimor-shkencor, Prishtinë 2012.
